Obituary of Carroll Dean Roberts

Bedford Carroll Dean (Deno) Roberts, 84, of Bedford, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at I. U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born June 28, 1927 in Bedford, he was the son of Tom and Laura Roberts. He married Patricia A. Nickless on October 7, 1960 and she survives. He retired from General Motors after thirty years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Japan. He drove his tractor in the Bedford Fourth of July parade for the past thirteen years. He was a good husband, dad and grandpa who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Patricia, of Bedford; two daughters, Sheila Davis and husband, Jim of Bedford, Sandy Waterford of Bloomington; three sons, John Roberts of Bloomington, Randy Hatfield and Brian Roberts both of Bedford; twelve grandchildren, Carl, Jeremy and Brandon (Dusty) Vincent, Jimmy and Joey (Tammy)Davis, Jeana (Stephen) Godsey, Courtney, Zackery and Tyler Roberts, Tasha Baxter, Audie Caudill, Emily; twenty-three great grandchildren; one brother, Joe Roberts and wife, Patty. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mike Roberts; three brothers, Carl, Glen and Harrell Roberts; two sisters, Mary and Frances. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, October 17th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Jim McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 16th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, October 17th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
