Obituary of Evalou Roach

Mitchell Evalou Roach, 91, a resident of Mitchell Manor, formerly of Bedford, died at 9:50 am on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Mitchell Manor. Born June 1, 1915 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Everett and Lizzie (Byrd) Wood. She married Grover Roach on April 14, 1934 and he died February 6, 1973. She had worked at Tendals Hardware & Restaurant in Bedford for many years. She was a graduate of Mitchell High School class of 1933 and member of the Wesleyan Church in Bedford. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Bays and her husband, Don of Ocala, FL; Janet Smith and her husband, Jerry of Huntington, IN; two granddaughters; three grandsons; seven great granddaughters; three great grandsons; three great great granddaughters; three great great grandsons; two step-granddaughters; six step-great grandchildren; four step-great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover; her parents; three brothers, William E., Charles A. and Jesse R. Wood; one step-son, Dr. Paul Roach and one special cousin, Horace Tyree. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 14th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Gordon Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers are: Rick Smith, Scott Smith, Mark Smith, Jonathan Smith, Casey Lahr, Heath Snyder and Quinton Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are: Brian Seidle, Bret Seidle, Bradley Seidle and Jerry Seidle.
