Bedford, IN Mary P. Peterson, 77, of 161 The Woods, Bedford, formerly of Angleton, TX, died at 3:25 pm on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the Bloomington Hospital. Born June 9, 1932 in Munday, TX, she was the daughter of Charles Roy and Jonnie Lucille (Fancher) Massey. She married Lamar Peterson on December 5, 1958 and he survives. She was the former co-owner and president of the Climate Heating/AC in Angleton, TX. She was the first female president of the Angleton Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been a treasurer and president of the Houston South District United Methodist Women. She was the financial interpreter and treasurer of the Texas Conference of United Methodist Women and chairwomen of Christian Global Concerns. She conducted Financial Seminars and Peace with Justice talks and workshops for United Methodist Women at Conference and Jurisdiction events. She was nominated to the Womens Division Board and General Conference Delegates. Mary taught church school and served five terms as chair of Council on Ministries, the administrative board and on various committees. Surviving with her husband, Lamar are two daughters, Pamela Clegg and husband, Ronnie of Angleton, TX, Paula Cook and husband, Ken of Corsicana, TX; grandchildren, Jason Vines, Melanie Vines, Christopher Vines, Kimberly Vines, Devin Summitt, Jack Summitt, Carlos Cook, Leland Cook, Heather Clegg, Hallie Clegg and Hanna Clegg; great grandchildren, Lauren Dugger, Destiny Marshall, Jacob Hall, Nicholas Vines, Paige Vines and Riley Wallace; two brothers, Charles Massey of San Antonio, TX and Jimmy Massey of Houston, TX; two sisters, Janice Ann Massey and Patsy Capp both of Garland, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Judy Cook and Peggy Emerson; one brother, Tommy Massey and a great grandson, Jacob Dugger. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 30th at the First United Methodist Church in Angleton, TX with Rev. Eldon Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery in Angleton, TX. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford, IN and from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 29th at the Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, TX. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, Mary requested donations be made to BRMC Foundation or the Lawrence County Community Foundation in Bedford, IN.
