Obituary of Julia A. Parker

Springville Julia A. Parker, 96, of Springville, went home to be with Jesus at 9:35 am on Monday, August 9, 2010. Born January 31, 1914 she was the daughter of Oliver A. and Mary Jane (Honeycutt) Meadows. She married Evett Thomas Parker on March 22, 1930 and he preceded her in death on August 8, 1985. She was an artist and musician. She was one of the original members of the Evening Light Gospel Singers and played the five string banjo until she was eighty-nine. She attended the Branham Tabernacle in Jeffersonville and the Hobbyville Christian Fellowship. Survivors include a son, Bernard Parker and wife, Phyllis of Springville; four daughters, Verla Skinner and husband, Tom of Oolitic, Wilma Swango and husband, Warren, Shirley Waggoner and husband, Carl all of Springville, Brenda Flynn and husband, Lowell of Bedford; seventeen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Ervin Parker; three brothers, Jasper, Jean and James Meadows; a half-sister, Mary Meadows; a granddaughter, Connie Parker and two great granddaughters. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, August 13th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. G.D. Estes and Bro. Willard Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Springville West Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 12th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Friday, August 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
