Obituary of Barbara R. Medlock

Barbara R. Medlock, 81, passed away at Bloomington Hospital on Friday, December 18, 2009. Born January 16, 1928, in Oolitic, Indiana, she was the daughter of Oscar and Ilene (Robinson) Hammond. She married Robert W. Medlock on June 14, 1947. She was the office co-manager of the Bedford Veterinary Medical Centre where she worked with her husband for 32 years. She retired in 1986. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother , great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a true and caring friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Medlock, DVM; March 1, 2007, parents, Oscar and Ilene Hammond, and her brother George Alfred Hammond. Survivors include two brothers, Wayne (Evelyn-wife) Hammond of Sebring, Florida, and Kent (Sandra-wife) Hammond of Bedford; one sister, Betty (Dale-husband) Arnold of Bedford; two sons, Stephen (Ricci-wife) Medlock, DVM of Bloomington, IN; Jeffrey (Kate-wife) of Bedford; one daughter Rebecca (Don- husband) Johnson of Bloomington, IN; five grandsons, Bradley Burns of Longmont, CO; Tyson (Kristen-wife) Medlock, DVM of Lafayette, IN; Tanner Medlock of Bloomington, IN; Tate Medlock of Chicago, IL; and Cody Medlock of Bloomington, IN; three granddaughters, Brigette Burns Doering of Bloomington, IN, Ashley Medlock, U.S. Air Force Italy, and Emily Medlock of Bloomington, IN; two great-grandchildren, Cailey and Nicholas Doering of Bloomington, IN. She was member of the Oolitic Baptist Church and was baptized October 31, 1948. In recent years she attended the Faith Mission Church in Bedford. Funeral Information Services will be held Wednesday, December 23rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Steven Manley officiating. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Day & Carter Mortuary on Wednesday, December 23rd from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
