Obituary of Loretta Houtchings

Bedford – Loretta Houtchings, 75, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at her residence. Born October 24, 1948, she was the daughter of Ethel Gross and Reece (Lynne) Frazier. She married James Houtchings on July 5, 1981, and he survives. She had been employed at the Hospitality House in Bedford and was a top sales associate for Tupperware. She was a member of the Peerless Trinity Pentecostal Church. Loretta was always hosting family dinners and making favorite meals. She loved canning and visiting her old home town of London, KY. She loved everyone she met and was the family glue who held all the pieces together. Survivors include her husband, James, of Bedford; children, Kevin (Kim) Banks, Lana (Jefferey) Banks, Carol (Shannon) Johnson, James (Amanda) Houtchings; grandchildren, Jennifer Stephans, Ethan Banks, Emily Banks, Michael Todd, Faith McMahan, Kaylynn Cavins, Dakota Johnson, Gage Johnson, Alexus Johnson, Jackie Houtchings, and Charlotte Houtchings; several great grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marthy Allen; a brother, Clinton Frazier, and a granddaughter, Kylie Houtchings. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 4th at the Peerless Trinity Pentecostal Church with Pastor Aaron Swafford officiating. Burial will follow in Springville Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 3rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday at the Peerless Trinity Pentecostal Church.
