Obituary of Dora Beatrice Knight

Dora Beatrice Knight, 84, lived in Needmore until moving to Westview Manor two years ago. She went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 15, 2010. Mrs. Knight was born December 22, 1925 in Lawrence County, the daughter of Sherman and Frowe (Duke) Jackson who preceded her in death. She was married to James Allen Knight on January 25, 1948 in Bedford. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1993. Mrs. Knight graduated from Bedford High School in 1944. She was a homemaker until her boys were all in school. She then began working as a library aide at Needmore School. After the consolidation, Mrs. Knight moved to BNL where she continued to work in the library until she retired. During her retirement, she enjoyed working during the elections in various positions and serving at Judah Church of Christ where she was a member. Mrs. Knight was a great cook and enjoyed sharing food items with others, especially her family and those who lived in the Needmore community. She touched many lives with her sweet spirit and kind manner. Her servants attitude enriched the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Mrs. Knight will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She dearly loved and was very proud of her sons, daughter-in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her sons, Sherman (Mary) Knight, Somerset; Mike (Pam) Knight, Springville; John (Valeri) Knight, Williams; seven grandchildren, Michael (Cori) Knight, Macy; Jason (Sara) Knight, Ann Arbor, Michigan; Allen Knight, Springville; Brian (Nikki) Knight, Indianapolis; Ashley (Matt) Potter, Springville; Kyle Knight, Williams; Jeremy Knight, Williams; and seven great-grandchildren Dagan, Owen, Stokes, Jackson, Auria, Amelia, and Merrick. Preceding her in death were her brothers and sister-in-law Tunis Paul Jackson, Wilford and Pat Jackson, Cloyce Jackson and brothers-in-law Dale Shipman and David Sweeny. Surviving siblings are Gary Jackson, Myra Shipman, Gloria (Gene) Kruchten, Jewell Sweeny, and Dean (Ollie) Jackson. Surviving sisters-in-law are Wilma Jackson and Helen Jackson. Funeral Information Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Day and Carter Mortuary, 1133 Lincoln Avenue, Bedford. Mrs. Knights grandsons Jason and Brian Knight will officiate. Burial will be at Cresthaven Memorial Garden. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2010 and one hour prior to Tuesdays service at the funeral home.
