Obituary of Nina Fields Colglazier

Nina Fields Colglazier, age 93, died at 12:15 A.M. December 23rd at White Rive Lodge. Nina was born in Martin County to Charlie and Etta White Fields, May 13, 1916. Prior to Ninas first birthday her family moved to Brinsmade, North Dakota. Nina returned to her family home near Owensburg during the depression in 1932. In 1943 Nina married Burley (Boo) Colglazier and he preceded her in death in 1983. They had one son David Michael, who died in 1995 in Maitland Florida. She was also preceded in death by her brother Roy Fields and wife Izota, sister Ethel Fields Graham and husband, Duncan, two nieces Betty Lou Fields Bates and Gretchen Fields Glover, and one nephew Marvin Fields. Nina worked for Otho Smith in Bedford, RCA in Bloomington, DuPont in Charlestown, and as a telephone operator in Scottsburg. In 1952, she began her career as a school cook and retired after 21 years as the head cook for the Bedford School System. She also spent several summers cooking at Indian Creek Baptist Church Camp. Nina was a member of Southland Church of Christ. One grandson, Kevin S. Colglazier, his wife Melissa and one great grandson William Murphy Colglazier of London, England, survives Nina. Also, surviving are: ex daughter-in-law Judy Smith of Texas, two nephews and four nieces, Melvin Fields and wife Penni, Debra Fields Koester and husband Don, Marie McHargue and Maxine Rogers. There were two girls that Nina loved very much and thought of as her daughters, Dianne Collier Beyers and Sheila Lindsey Eggers. Nina loved her apartment on Illinois St. where she had such good neighbors and so many dear friends. Ninas caregivers were Ronda Grove, Sheila Eggers, Everett and Judy Stidam. She thought these four were the best. She also had many other good friends helping her. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 27th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Brother Bud Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 26th at Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Kevin S. Colglazier, Don Koester, Everett Stidam, Mike Grissom, Daniel Beyers and David Eggers.
