Obituary of H. George Carmichael

Springville H. George Carmichael, 86, of 847 Washboard Road, Springville, died on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born July 4, 1924 in Monroe Co., he was the son of Herman W. and Pearl (McGlaughlin) Carmichael. He married Ethel Smoot on March 18, 1944 and she preceded him in death on April 22, 2007. He was a self-employed carpenter and builder. He was a member of the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene and the Oolitic V.F.W. He was a founding member of the Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Department and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. Survivors include; his companion, Mary Mathews three children, Donna Spaulding of Ft. Worth, TX, Robert Carmichael and wife, Nancy of Bedford and Debbie Hall and husband, Butch, of Leesville; eight grandchildren, Leah Lee and husband, Bryan, Darren Spaulding, Bryce Spaulding all of Ft. Worth, TX, Laura Carmichael of Bedford, Sarah Roberts and husband, Chad of Springville, Dan Hall of Bedford, Joe Hall and wife, Nechole, Josh Hall and wife, Natasha all of Leesville; nine great grandchildren, Rhydon Lee and Peyton Spaulding of Ft. Worth, TX, Kendale and Kaylynn Roberts both of Springville, Levi, Luke and Mady Hall of Martinsville, Jacob and Autumn Hall of Leesville; a sister, Frances Hoagland-Stanford and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Nellie Perry and Betty Carpenter. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 26th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Hanson Cemetery with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 25th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
