Obituary of Betty A. Dorsett Edwards Howell

Bedford Betty A. Dorsett Edwards Howell, 79, of Bedford, died at 9:20 pm on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at White River Lodge in Bedford. Born April 10, 1931, she was the daughter of Marvin and Bessie (Fields) Dorsett. She married Jim A. Edwards and he died May 25, 1962. She then married Roy J. Howell on October 1, 1967 and he died in August 2001. She was a graduate of Williams High School with the class of 1949. She was the Lawrence County Recorder from 1960 through 1968 having served as Deputy Recorder eight years prior. She was employed at Ellison Abstract office in Bedford and First American Title Company in Las Vegas, Nevada before her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church in Bedford. Survivors include a step-son, Gary D. Howell of Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, four brothers, Marvin Leroy, Marion K., Billy G. and Paul W. Dorsett; two sisters, Nelda Gould and Helen G. Burchard. Funeral Information Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 15th at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with Rev. Charlie Scott officiating. Entombment will follow. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm on Wednesday, September 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
