Obituary of Elmer Olin Richter

Elmer Olin Richter Elmer Olin Richter, 79, of 4741 St. Road 54 W. passed away at 6:15 P.M. Friday, June 19th at his residence. Born on May 4, 1930 in Greensburg, IN, he was the son of Everett Richter and Alice Blanche (Edelman) Richter. He worked for Central Rubber & Supply in Indianapolis, IN until 1978 then became the owner of Rocky Top Country Store in Springville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from September 1948 until April 1954 and on September 21, 1957 he married Ruth Moore. He was a member of the F & AM Broad Ripple Masonic Lodge #643, Murat Shrine, 33rd degree mason of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the Murat Mini Cycles. His memberships also included the White River Valley Antique Association, Lawrence County Rock Club, Railroadiana, Monon Railroad Society, and the American Lock Collectors Association. Surviving with his wife, Ruth (Moore) Richter of Springville are two sons: Maurice Richter and his wife, Brenda of Franklin, IN; Kevin Richter and his wife, Anna of Oolitic, IN; two daughters: Cheryl Evans and her husband, Wes of Bloomington, IN; Dee Thomas and her husband, Donnie of Bedford, IN; 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons: Stuart and Preston; two brothers: Daniel and Wayne and one sister: Mary Lipp. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 23rd from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Kenny Fisher and Rev. David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call at Day & Carter Mortuary on Monday, June 22nd from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, June 23rd from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.
