E. Bernard Parker Obituary

E. Bernard Parker, 92, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, in Avon Park, Florida.


Born November 25, 1933, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Evett and Julia (Meadows) Parker. He married Phyllis I. Darcus on July 14, 1951, and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2022. He retired from ABB of Bloomington, formerly Westinghouse, after 30 years of service. He was of Christian faith and a former member of the Sharkey Pentecostal Church of Bloomfield.


Survivors include two daughters, Karen Jones (Jack) and Lora Smith (Randy); three granddaughters; one grandson; several great-grandchildren; two sisters Wilma Swango and Brenda Flynn; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his parents, daughter Connie Ann Parker, two sisters Verla Skinner and Shirey Waggoner, and a brother Ervin Parker.


Funeral services will be conducted at 1:45 pm on Monday, December 8, 2025, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Reggie Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, with no graveside service being held. Visitation will be on Monday from 1:00 pm to the time of service.
