Frederick Steven “Steve” Aronson went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 4:45 a.m., surrounded by love in his home.

Steve was born on April 3, 1951, in Bedford, Indiana, to Barbara Webb and Gene Baker. He was married to Linda Lou Flynn for 32 years until her passing on July 20, 2002. In 2005, Steve met his beloved companion, Darla Dixon. The two married on April 27, 2019, and shared a beautiful life together until his passing.

Steve had a lifelong passion for basketball, especially girls’ basketball, which he enjoyed with his daughters Amy and Stephanie. He was a devoted fan of the Indiana Fever and proudly held season tickets, cheering them on every season. Steve was a skilled woodworker who loved building furniture, hunting, visiting flea markets, and spending time with his family. He was also an avid gamer, enjoying everything from crossword puzzles to PlayStation, and had recently embraced the exciting world of virtual reality.

He is survived by his wife, Darla Aronson; daughters Amy J. Vaught, Kristy R. Spinks (Brandon), and Stephanie A. Leonard (Larry); Shera J. Niece (Johnny) and Ryan R. Dixon; grandchildren Bennett Spinks, Garrett Spinks, Averi Leonard, Seth Leonard, Wrenly Niece, and Logan Niece; and his beloved dog, Harper. Steve is also survived by his sisters Vicki Beedie, Jan Carter, Linda Breedlove, and Sandy Butler; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Lou Aronson; his parents, Barbara and Gene Baker; his brother, William “Bill” Baker; and brothers-in-law Jim Beedie, Phil Bartlett, and Scott Butler.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, from 2:00–8:00 p.m. at Day & Carter Mortuary. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 23, at 11:00 a.m., also at Day & Carter Mortuary, with additional visitation from 9:00–11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers are: Ryan Dixon, Matthew Flynn, Michael Flynn, Troy Beedie, Johnny Niece and Larry Leonard.

Steve will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery until we meet again.
