Sandra “Sonnie” Kay (Simmons) Moody of Washington, IN passed away at 5:00 pm on Friday September 12, 2025, at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon, IN. She was born on December 12, 1936, in Bedford, IN to Forrest and Marjorie Simmons. She was married to Maurice Moody, who preceded her in death in 2013, on June 5, 1955, their love for each other was unsurpassed.

Sonnie passionately loved her family and was always so happy to see her grandkids. She loved family reunions and getting together with cousins for a meal twice a year. Sonnie always enjoyed her books, decorating for holidays, and playing games with her family and friends.

Survivors include her 3 children, Cindy (Dennis) Graves of Macomb MI, Rick (Mary) Moody of Washington IN, and Tammy Eaker of Washington, IN; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Sonnie has one sister, Barbara (Jon Mark) Underwood and one brother, Dennis Simmons, who preceded her in death in 2022.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00pm on Tuesday, September 16th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday, September 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
