Bloomington – Charles Sturgeon, 93, of Bloomington, passed away at 2:36 am on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at his residence.
Born May 29, 1932, in Monroe Co., he was the son of Homer and Della Sturgeon. He was a farmer, a furniture business owner, and an auctioneer. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served with the 101st Airborne Division.
Survivors include two sons, Dan (Elizabeth) Sturgeon, of Bedford and Bruce (Annette) Sturgeon, of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Daniel Sturgeon, Bradley Sturgeon, and Rob Bowman; a great-granddaughter, Adele Sturgeon; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Sturgeon, of Bloomington; a sister, Betty Hamm, of Whitehall, IN; a brother, Terry (Betty) Sturgeon, of Solsberry; his closest friend, Larry (Lindsay) Kalb. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Bradley Sturgeon and 20 siblings.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 23rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Terry Myers officiating. Military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Burial will follow in the Greene County Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
