Bedford - Bill Philpott of Bedford was called home with Jesus at 5:33 pm on August 12, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was of the Pentecostal Faith and on June 20, 2025, he gave his heart to the Lord!
Born September 9, 1958, in Bloomington Indiana Bill was the son of Ottis and Vena Mae (Chambers) Philpott. He married Kathy (Deckard) Philpott on September 30,1978, and she survives. Bill joined the Army National Guard in 1976 where he served twelve years. He had many stories about his deployment to Germany. He worked as a mechanic and could fix anything with a motor. He could almost always be found in the garage tinkering with a mower or tractor. He loved riding his Harley. His pride and Joy were his grand babies and his beagle, Little Lady, that he raised from a few days old. His longtime friends Kenny Radcliff, Ed Radcliff and Dan Johns.
Survivors include his Wife, of 46 years, Kathy, his 3 children William “Billy” (Elizabeth) Philpott, Robert “Bobby” Philpott and Amber (Michael) Staggs. His brothers, Denny (Suzette) Philpott of Switz City Indiana, Jimmy (Marilyn) Philpott of Poland Indiana and Kenny Philpott of Bedford. His mother-in-law, Anna Goins, of Bedford. Grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Jacob, Jared Fizer, Ashleigh Philpott, Lexie (Clayton) Evers, Brianna Philpott and William (Little Bill) Philpott, Bobby (Leah) Philpott, Emily Philpott, Ian Philpott, Megan Jeter, Cash Philpott, Elijah, Ava, Hannah, Madalyn, Callie Staggs. Great Grandchildren, Raelyn, Nolan, Blake, Zoey, Savannah, Addilyn, Keyona. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry Philpott, sisters Betty Grubb and Judy Philpott.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 16th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Aaron Swafford officiating. Military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
