Bedford – Bill “Pappy” Wever, 93, of Bedford, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the home of his daughter in Oolitic.
Born December 14, 1931, in Bedford, he was the son of Glen and Ada (Link) Wever. He married Marie Brown on October 13, 1951, and she preceded him in death. He retired from Samco and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War in the Army Tank Battalion.
Survivors include his daughter, Ginny Byers and husband, Scotty, of Oolitic; grandchildren, Heather (Jeremy) Moore, Devin (Amanda) Byers, Brooke (Jeremy) Ratliff, and BreOnna (Matt) Harding; great-grandchildren, McKenley and Bella Byers, Kennedy and Kadence Moore, Ava Ratliff, Hayden and Holten Harding; a sister, Nona Case. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, John and Bob Wever.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 9th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Rob Kirts officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers are Devin Byers, Jeremy Moore, Jeremy Ratliff, Matt Harding, Jacob Perry and Kenny Jean. Memorial contributions may be made to Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services.
