Bedford – Franklin Brent Rains, 66, of Bedford, passed away at 12:24 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at his home.

Born June 23, 1959, in Bedford, he was the son of Franklin D. and Pearl E. (Brassine) Rains. He married Ann Sutherlin on April 20, 1984, and she survives. He was a tool and die maker at D & M Tool and a long-time member of the Orleans Christian Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his grandkids. He was the craftsman and creator of Red Dog calls

Survivors include his wife, Ann, of Bedford; a son, Luke Rains and wife, Lindsey, of Paoli; a daughter, Amber Knight and husband, Allen, of Springville; four grandchildren, Evelyn and Aubrey Knight, Garrett and Hunter Rains; a brother, Scott Bough and wife, Donna, of Bedford; his mother, Pearl Rains, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 31st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Ministers Tom Bostic and Marty Speer officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 30th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
