Bloomfield – James D. Smith, 67, of Bloomfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his residence.

Born June 27, 1958, in Zanesville, OH, he was the son of Donald James and Edna Mae (Connor) Smith. He married Leslie J. Fortman on December 22, 1979, and she survives. He was a systems engineer at NWSC Crane and had served as an electronics technician with the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Leslie, of Bloomfield; a daughter, Holly R. Mix and husband, Phillip, of Springville; two sons, James A. Smith and wife, Nichol, of Loogootee and Leigh M. Smith, of Burlingham, CA; grandchildren, Ava R. Smith, Maewynn A. Mix, Avonlea R. Mix and Eilena R. Mix; a sister, Terry Meikle and husband, Dick, of Newburgh. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 12th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jeff Williams officiating.
