Bedford – Jerome F. Owens, 82, of Bedford, passed away at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born August 13, 1942, in Martin Co., he was the son of Cecil and Viola (Inman) Owens. He married Connie Kelly in March 1967. He later married Marjorie Kern on July 3, 1997, and she preceded him in death on May 3, 2024. He retired as a production supervisor at Westinghouse after 22 years then worked at Baxter’s for 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.

Survivors include a daughter, Tricia Hillenburg and husband, Dennis, of Bedford; a son, Trent Owens and wife, Nancy, of Holland, IN; five grandchildren, Connie, Noah, Jeffry, Jaden and Anna. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two sisters, Vergilla Roberts and Rowena Mitchell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, July 9th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Tim Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
