Bedford – Dannie Lee Smith, 81, of Bedford, passed away at 4:34 pm on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at his residence.

Born January 2, 1944, in Oakland City, IN and grew up in Francisco, IN. He was the son of John T. and Ruby M. Smith (Morris). He married Bonnie J. Coulter (Bray) on June 19, 1993, and she survives. He graduated from Purdue University in the class of 1975. He worked as a Civil Engineer for the State of Indiana and for the City of Indianapolis. He returned to the State of Indiana to eventually retire from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, served on the Lawrence Township School Board for twelve years and always supported his local Lions Club.

Survivors include five daughters, Stacey (Michael) Noe, Lisa K. Smith, Courtney (Craig) Filley, Jodie (Jay) Thomas, Jennifer (Hans) Coulter-Lissman; grandchildren, Alyssa Noe, Lydia Tharp, Canaan Tharp, Katerina, Aden, Paxton, Rory Thomas, Elaine Coulter, Nolan Lissman, Emily Coulter, William Prescott; great grandchild, Lily M. Wyatt. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Doyle and Donnie Smith: a stepdaughter, Michelle L. Dewey.

No funeral services are planned however, the family will host a celebration of life on July 12, 2025. Celebration will be in the fellowship hall at Southwood Baptist Church located at 501 S 4th Ave, Beech Grove, IN 46107 from 12-4pm.
