Bedford – Jerry Lawrence Rainey, 81, of Bedford, passed away at 11:45 pm on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at his residence.

Born September 5, 1943, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of William Lawrence and Berniece Reba (Turpen) Rainey. He married Anna Sue Michael on February 5, 1965, and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2020. He retired as head of Image Analysis from NWSC Crane. He was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, building furniture, hunting, fishing, helping others and teaching basic skills.

Survivors include a son, David Lee Rainey and significant other, Rose Wolford, of Bedford; a daughter, Barbara Ann Rainey Eaton and husband, Nelson Courtney “Skip” Eaton, III, of Martinsville, IN; grandchildren, Jerianna Parker Eaton and Nelson Courtney “Gus” Eaton, IV and fiancé, Kay Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 3rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Steven Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 2nd and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
