Bedford – Harold Thompson, 91, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born September 15, 1933, in Bladenburg, NC, he was the son of Roy and Zollie (Wright) Thompson. He married Mary Lou Pruett and she survives. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and wood and stone carving was his hobby. He was a wonderful gardener, landscaper and a great dancer. He retired as an Ordnance Supervisor at Crane Army Activity in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou, of Bedford; a daughter, Leslie Thompson, (Susan Gates), of Bedford; a son, Bradley Thompson (Leah), of Brownsburg; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Madelyn, of Brownsburg; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Kathleen Frye and Daisy Lenz.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, May 23rd in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Silverville with Pastor Kenny Walden officiating. Military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. No visitation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County.
