Oolitic – Amanda Root, 87, of Oolitic, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

Born June 15, 1937, in Laurel Co., KY, she was the daughter of John Stanley and Bertha (Moore) Jones. She married Orville H. Root on December 23, 1958, and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1977. She had been an assembler for RCA.

Survivors include four daughters, Christina Weaver and Carolena Harrison, both of Bedford, Rosanna Turner, of Oolitic and Vanessa Caudill, of London, KY; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 2 great-great-grandchildren and 1 on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Darlena Kelley; five sisters, Sarah Witt, Dorothy Witt, Venice Creech, Ruby Jones (in infancy), and Delia Smith; four brothers, Paul Jones, Clarence Eugene Jones, Charles E. Jones, and John Stanley Jones, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in Patton Hill Cemetery.
