Obituary of Doris Conner

Fayetteville – Doris Conner, 94, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Born October 17, 1930, in Silverville, she was the daughter of Forrest and Zona (West) Craig. Spending her early years of life on Arch Carter’s large farm. Having a blessed home life with parents and nine siblings. Five brothers and four sisters, which were extremely close with unconditional appreciation for one another. Attending school at Silverville under Lyman Wagoner, then to Fayetteville High School. She married Warren Victor Conner on November 24, 1948, at Silverville Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Merla Craig and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1999, after 50 years of marriage. Church life was attending Silverville Missionary Baptist Church, Fayetteville Baptist Church and Hillcrest Christian Church. Family life was precious to her, lending a helping hand to family and friends was her life’s passion. Survivors include three sons, Warren Philip (Linda) Conner, Terry Lee Conner, and Gary Dee (Lisa) Conner; eight grandchildren, Brent (Alyssa) Conner, Holly (Sam) Hartman, Kristen (Ross) Lester, Denton (Susan) Conner, Brice (Shawna) Conner, Hope (Billy) Elliott, Aaron (Jeanelle) Conner, Andrea (Kyle) Bartlett; 18 great-grandchildren, Adelynne, Vanessa, Benjamin, Lilianne, Taylor Victoria, AbyGail, Brecken, Blake, Sawyer, Race, Jace, Aadyn, Emma, Ellie, Elizabeth, Elijah, Esther, and Ethan; one sister, Viola Osborn Waggoner; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Zona (West) Craig; her husband, Warren Victor Conner; a daughter-in-law, Donna Lee Conner; siblings, Wanda (Merla) Craig, Lowell (Ruth) Craig, Audra (Claris) Craig, Anah Williams Hall, Norma (Bill) Terry, Donald (Mary Esther) Craig, Edwin (Anna Dee) Craig, Vince (Frances) Craig, and Victor Craig (in infancy); six nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Friday, April 25th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 24th and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers: Brent Conner, Brice Conner, Aaron Conner, Kyle Bartlett, Ross Lester, and Sam Hartman.
