Obituary of Theodore King
Theodore “Ted” King, 93, died peacefully on March 31, 2025 at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville, Indiana. He was born June 23, 1931 in Oolitic, Indiana, the third child of Elbert Roscoe and Nannie Catherine (Bray) King.
As a child, he lived with his maternal grandparents in Tateville, Kentucky, and later with his older sister Viola and brother-in-law George Clayton in Everton, Indiana. He and Jannie Parks married on April 7, 1951 and spent more than 70 years together in Indiana and Missouri until her death in 2024.
Ted served proudly in the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of Specialist Third Class, from 1954 to 1956.
Ted had big dreams and was torn between his love of Indiana and Missouri. He and his family had a farm near Andersonville, Indiana, where he enjoyed mushroom hunting and working outdoors. They then moved to Springfield, Missouri, where he was especially proud of his work as the sole maintenance engineer for CoxHealth Hospital. Ted and Jannie eventually returned to Lawrence County, Indiana, circling back to where Ted was born.
Ted is survived by two sons, Mark King of Greensburg, Indiana, and David King of Bedford, Indiana, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Jannie (Parks) King, his daughter Pam King Carr Holt, and son, Gregory Stephen King. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
