Obituary of John Paul Chastain

Bedford – John Paul Chastain, 42, of Bedford, passed away at 11:10 am on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born June 5, 1982, in Bedford, he was the son of Doug and Patty (Turner) Chastain. John was a ranch and rodeo hand at Bea Hive Farm, Barnes Rodeo Co, and Rafter G. Rodeo Co. He had worked for many years on several rodeo circuits. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved the rodeo and the cowboy way of life. He was a member of Dive Christian Church and attended Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. He was an avid collector of die cast farm toys. Survivors include his parents, Doug and Patty Chastain of Bedford; a sister, Jessica Chastain of South Dakota; a son, John Wyatt Chastain of Waycross, GA; a step-daughter, Jaeylynn Edge of Waycross, GA; aunts, Paula Fraley, of Florida, Polly Shields, of Corydon, and Brenda Hedge & Robert, of Williams; several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Archie and Joan Turner and John and Laveda Chastain. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, April 4th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Jeff Hudelson and Rocky Donica officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 3rd and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
