Obituary of Brian David Grissom
Bedford – Brian David Grissom, 52, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at IU Health Hospital in Bedford from Heart disease.
Born on June 2, 1972, in Bedford, Indiana, Brian was the cherished son of David L. Grissom and Joy (Pridemore) Reynolds. He possessed a remarkable talent for limestone drafting, specializing in intricate designs. His professional journey included dedicated years at Bybee Stone Company, Texacon, and 3D Stone (formally known as Evan’s Limestone) where his artistry left a lasting mark.
Brian was of Catholic faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus. His commitment to service extended beyond his faith, as he was a founding father of the Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity chapter at Vincennes University. Brian was a volunteer with Springville Scouting Troop 343, serving as Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, outdoor chef, and a mentor to many Scouts. He was a dedicated and founding School Board Member for Lawrence County Independent School (LCIS), where Brian’s vision for the school was instrumental in making LCIS a reality for so many families. Brian’s heart was always open to giving back to his community, and he found joy in bringing laughter to others with his humorous stories. Above all, Brian was an exceptionally dedicated father, sacrificing everything for his sons’ well-being. He treasured spending time with his family and cooking Sunday dinners.
Brian’s legacy lives on through his five sons: Logan (Hanna) Grissom of Bedford, Landon (fiancé Kennedy Hultz) Grissom of Indianapolis, Layton Grissom of Springville, Lawson Grissom of Bedford, and Liam Grissom of Springville. He is also survived by his loving mother and stepfather Joy and David Reynolds; his stepmother, Barbara Grissom; his brothers, Donnie (Danelle) Gratzer, Aaron (Heather) Grissom, Jonathan Reynolds, and Jace Reynolds; his sister, Christy Gratzer; his grandmother, Maxine Pridemore; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Preceded in death by his father David L Grissom.
In accordance with Brian’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Breakthrough T1D (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) at www.breakthrought1d.org. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.daycarter.com.
