Obituary of Betty Jeanette White-Allen

Heltonville, IN- Betty Jeanette White-Allen, 83, of Heltonville, IN died at 10:56pm on Friday, February 14, 2025, at her residence. Born July 17, 1941, in New Castle, IN, she was the daughter of George and Edith (Goodman) Swigart. She married Dale White on April 2, 1961, and they raised four children; she later married John B. Allen on April 27, 1999, and he survives. She worked as a Registered Nurse for Bloomington Hospital, and at her retirement she was the manager of the Oncology Department. Betty was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church, an active member for Bible Study Fellowship, and had taught adult Sunday School class for many years prior to attending Hillcrest. Betty enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also truly enjoyed her work as an oncology nurse, often spending her time off work checking on patients. Survivors include her husband, John Allen; six children: Suzanne Burns and her husband Steve, Lindley White and his wife Christine, Dina Wood, Regina Smith and her husband Tracey, LuAnne Allen, and J.B. Allen and his wife Kristina; nine grandchildren: Lauren Harris and her husband Kevin, Alexander Smith, Meredith Burns, Lukas White, Elijah Harris, Dalton Allen, Anna Allen, Kieron Harris, and Kaleb Harris; Preston Harris also, whom she treated like a son. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Sara A. Williams. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, February 21st, 2025, the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Mark Fugate officiating. Burial will follow in the Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 20th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
