Edward Franklin Nilson, 87, of Greenwood, formerly of Lawrence Co., passed away at 7:04 am on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Aspen Trace in Greenwood.
Born September 21, 1937, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Roy and Edith (Tanksley) Nilson. He retired from RCA as a Purchase Materials Inspector. He was a member of the Bedford Boat & Sportsman’s Club, and loved golf. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Bob) Brown, of Mooresville; granddaughters, Alyssa Gill and Tiffany O’Brien, of Bedford; two step-grandsons, Andy and Alex Brown, both of Mooresville; a great-granddaughter Presley O’Brien of Bedford; a great-grandson Greyson Brown of Mooresville; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill and John Nilson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Dave Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, January 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
