Obituary of Geraldine Cain
Bedford – Geraldine “Jeri” Bourland Cain, 77, of Bedford, passed away on May 10, 2022, at home, surrounded by her loved ones after a strong-willed battle with cancer. She kept her faith in knowing God had her in his loving arms. She was of Christian faith and had attended and followed on-line at Hillcrest Christian Church.
Born March 24, 1945, in Bedford, she was the daughter of her loving parents, William Samual “Red” Bourland and Agnes Marie (Gyger) Bourland. She married Phil Cain on December 5, 1975, and he preceded her in death in August 2011. She was the most loving and caring person. She spent much of her time raising money and doing good deeds for those in need. She always told us our family was blessed beyond measure and we needed to share that blessing.
She worked at many places, but was at Broadview Bowling Center for 30+ years, alongside her husband, until she retired. Everyone knew that it was a “Center” and she corrected them if the referred to it as an “alley”. She enjoyed many vacations at the beach. She loved spending time with her many life-long friends, knowing the love was strong, no matter the days between visits or miles apart.
She is the loving mother of three daughters, Sherri Sons (Louie), Annette Warnick (Bob), and Carri Smith, all of Bedford; a loving grandma Jeri to Nicole Smith (Travis), of Springville, Andrew Sons (Stacie), Rikki Crane (Johnny), all of Bedford, and Dr. Nathaniel Warnick (Shannon), of Ellettsville; a loving great grandma Jeri to Dyllon Smith, Peyton Smith, Austin Sons, Riley Sons, Bracie Crane, and Dixon Crane; her loving sisters, Betty Bourland and Pat Bruin; life-long friend, Sharon Van Dyke, all of Bedford; many much loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Bob “Rabbi” Bourland; a granddaughter, Jessica Ann Case and a niece, Lesia Gail Cox.
Heaven has received an amazing angel, and she will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. She always said, “The sky is blue, the sun is shining, God is in Heaven and all is well.” LOVE YOU MORE!!
We are honoring her wishes of cremation. A celebration of Life will be held at 5:30 pm on Saturday, May 28th at the Hillcrest Christian Church with a meal to follow. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until the hour of service on Saturday. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions to Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services, Becky’s Place, or the Hillcrest Christian Church. Family and friends may express condolences to www.daycarter.com.
