Obituary of Carl E. Bailey

Bedford Carl E. Bailey, 67, of 319 Forestview Dr., Bedford, died at 3:56 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at the Bloomington Hospital. Born January 28, 1936 in Lawrence Co., IN, he was the son of William and Gladys (Whitted) Bailey. He married Joan Norman on March 11, 1952 and she survives. He was a retired truck driver. He was a part-time driver for E & R Fabricating in Bedford and drove a bus for the Mitchell Community Schools Athletic Department. He was a member of the First Chuch of God and the driver for the church bus. Surviving with his wife, Joan are his father, William, of Bedford; five children, Carla J. Bailey of Bedford, Terry E. Bailey and Pam, of Evansville, Bryant D. Bailey and Amy, of Saline, MI, April Leatherbury and Hugh, of Hall, IN and Robin Bailey and Laura, of Bedford; fifteen grandchildren and step grandchildren: children of Carla; Deanna Riley and Angela Bailey; children and step children of Terry; Shayna Davidson, Crystal Caplin, Jeffrey, Scott and Joshua Souders; children of Bryant; Emily and Samantha Bailey; children and step children of April; Craig Bailey, Abigail Leatherbury, Catherine and Benjamin Leatherbury; children of Robin; Tricia and Trent Bailey; eleven great grandchildren; three brothers, Roger Bailey of Heltonville; Duane and Denny Bailey both of Bedford; six sisters, Verla Norman of Brownstown, Marilyn Grissom of Ft. Myers, FL, Marian Bartlett of Heltonville, Ingrid Ann Hornback of Greenwood, Rita Gray of Vallonia and Shana Hobson of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers, Lester and Ronnie Bailey. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 1st at the First Church of God in Bedford with Pastor Alan Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Meadows Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm on Friday, January 31st at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the First Church of God.
