Obituary of Thomas Chandler Sloan

Bedford – Thomas Chandler Sloan, 71, of Bedford, died at 2:38 pm on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Born May 6, 1947, in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of Morris Elmer and Mildred (Boyette) Sloan. He was a purchasing agent, business owner, long-time AT&T employee, and gate attendant at Lake Monroe. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree later in life from Old Dominion University in Virginia and was an avid movie buff. He loved old westerns and WW II movies.

Survivors include his companion, Tammy Deaville, of Bedford and her daughter, Samantha Cunningham; three sons, William Travis Sloan, and wife, Rachelle, of Maricopa, AZ, Thomas Cecil Sloan, and wife, Dawna,  Eric Chandler Sloan, and wife, Alisa, all of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Eloise Taylor Sloan, Wyatt Joseph Sloan, and Eloise Bell Sloan; Tammy’s other daughters, Amber Soto, and husband, Brandon, and Laura Elizabeth Deaville and six grandchildren; his step-mother, Jean Condon Sloan, of Norfolk, VA; seven siblings, Jeffrey Michael Sloan, Susan Duffey, Laurel Strutton, Virginia Harriston, Catherine McCombs, Joseph Morris Todd Sloan, and Michael Dennis Sloan; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Eloise Bell Sloan.
