Obituary of Betty J. Roach

Springville – Betty J. Roach, 86, of Springville, died at 8:55 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born November 15, 1930 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of William and Mary (McCall) Chastain. She married Oren Roach on July 8, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2008. She retired as a utility operator supervisor for M. Fine & Sons after thirty-six years and was a member of the Oolitic Church of Christ. Betty enjoyed her friends, working out at Healthy Balance where she was involved in the Silver Sneakers program. She enjoyed reading, quilting and gardening. Survivors include two sons, David Roach, of Springville and Donald Roach, of Avoca. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Ray and Fay Chastain; three sisters, Juanita French, Dorothy Lloyd and Roberta Lessig; a niece, Linda Lessig. At Betty’s request, no funeral service is planned. Burial will be in Springville Christian Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Betty can be made to White River Humane Society.
