Obituary of Linda Lou Rainey

Bedford – Linda Lou Rainey, 77, of Bedford, died at 9:37 am on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born February 5, 1939 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Arthur “Red” Brown and Pauline (Kern) Brown. She married Wilbur E. “Bill” Rainey on June 4, 1955 and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2009. She had worked at M. Fine & Sons and was a member of Old Union Christian Church. Her life’s work was her family, gardening and cooking. Survivors include a daughter, Becky Ashley and husband, Denny, of Mitchell; two sons, Jack Rainey and wife Sharon, and Brad Rainey all of Williams; ten grandchildren, Jason Rainey and wife, Willow, Shannon Greenwell and husband, Shayne, Amanda Sullivan and husband, Brent, Sarah Ashley, Stephanie Ashley, Matthew Rainey and wife, Crystal, Issac Rainey and wife, Jennifer, Jessica Floerke, and husband, Jessie, Skylar, and J.D. Ashley; seventeen great grandchildren, Jack, Alivia, Mason, Matthew, Grace, Garrett, Gibson, Nate, Nick, Nolan, Abby, Travis, Robert, Logan, Sophia, Kaitlynn, and Trenton; one great great grandchild, Baydn; three sisters, Becky Sargent of Williams, Carol Kent of Mitchell and Ronda Childress; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Abby. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Bobby and John Wayne; three brothers, Charles, Sonny and Billy Brown; two sisters, Cathy and one in infancy. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 4th at Old Union Cemetery with Mark Fish officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 3rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the family.
