Obituary of Margie Houston Hamilton

Bedford – Margie Houston Hamilton, 94, of Bedford, died Sunday, July 24, 2016 at her residence. Born August 8, 1921, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Paterson and Anna (Cummings) Murphy. She married Harold Houston on April 19, 1942 and he preceded her in death on November 26, 1987. She later married Charles T. Hamilton on February 14, 1989 and he preceded her in death on October 11, 2009. She was a graduate of Shawswick High School with the class of 1939. She retired as an office manager for W.T. Grant & Co. She was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church. She loved music and was the organist at the Jerome Church in Greentown, IN for fifteen years. She had been a part-time organist at Hillcrest Christian Church since 1991. She enjoyed church activities, painting, and sewing. Survivors include a son, Gary Wayne Houston and wife, Rose, of Bedford; a daughter, Anita Houston Lozano, of Lake Mary, FL; a granddaughter, Shelley Dial, of Zionsville; a grandson, Joshua Houston, of Bedford; a step-granddaughter, Denise Hodges, of Las Vegas, NV; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Fordyce, of Boothwyn, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, five brothers, Merlin, Harold, Charles Eugene, Fred, and Larry Murphy; a sister, Barbara Little; a great grandson, Elliott Dial. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 29th at the Hillcrest Christian Church with Pastor Charlie Scott and Mark Fugate officiating. Burial will follow in the Mundell Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Friday, July 29th at the Hillcrest Christian Church.
