Obituary of Glenda Kay Staley

Oolitic- Glenda Kay Staley, 64, of Oolitic, passed away after her 4th courageous battle with cancer, at 2:17 am on Friday, September 18, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born November 20, 1950 in Bedford she was the daughter of Orville Prince and Nana Lea(Eldridge) Poole. She married Jim Staley on February 28, 1975 and he survives. She was a member of the North Dunedin Baptist Church in Florida, and a member of A.A.N.A.C. She attended Bedford High School, Ivy Tech, and Vincennes University. She was a registered nurse and worked as the Director of Nurses at White River Lodge. Glenda was a dedicated nurse who gave compassionate care to her patients for over 40 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed many hobbies including painting, fishing, and going to yard sales. Survivors include; her mother, Nana Lea Poole; her husband, Jim of Oolitic; four daughters: Leah Hillenburg (Phil) of Norman, Kim King (Trent) of Mitchell, Teri Fields (Derrick) of Bedford, Michelle Taylor of Oolitic; one son: Randy Staley (Chip) of Tallahassee, FL; eight grandchildren: Phillip Hillenburg, Benjamin Taylor (Darian), Taylor Wood (Will), Garrott Taylor, Heather Hillenburg, Zach King, Joey Ayala and Emily Tellez; two great grandchildren: Cash Smith and Maverick Taylor; three brothers: Larry Prince, Wayne Prince (Debbie), Ronnie Prince (Jenny Kellams); one sister, Renee Quinn; two step-brothers: Greg Poole (Cathy) and Steve Poole (Patty); one step-sister, Suzanne Walker (Bob) ; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and her pets Kiti and Fuzi. She was preceded in death by her father, Orville, her step-father, Clarence Poole, step-brother, David Poole, a granddaughter, Nikki King, and her beloved poodle, Luci. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 22nd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Marty Speer officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at her home. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, September 21st at Day & Carter Mortuary, and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services.
