Obituary of Edith Catherine Swigart

Bedford Edith Catherine Swigart, 86, of 411 L Street, Bedford, IN, died on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at her residence. Born January 19, 1917 in East Oolitic, IN, she was the daughter of Elmer Frank and Ressie (Honeycutt) Goodman. She retired as a group leader at RCA in Bloomington after more than forty years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Bedford where she was a long-term historian for the WCG, a member of the Builders Sunday School Class and a charter member of the Tuesday morning bible study group. She was active in the RCA retirees group and volunteered at the Salvation Army for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Betty White-Allen and her husband John of Heltonville and Sara Williams and her husband Ben J. of Cary, NC; six grandchildren, Suzanne Burns and her husband Steve, Dina Wood, Gina Smith and her husband Tracey, Lindley White all of Heltonville, Laura Williams of Cary, NC and Eric Williams and his wife Joanne of Tuscaloosa, AL; four great grandchildren, Lauren and Alexander Smith, Meredith Burns and Lukas White all of Heltonville; two sisters, Louise Jenkins of Williams and Alice Naylor of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Ray, Earl, Eugene, Lloyd and Robert Goodman and one sister, Dorothy Todd. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 9th at The First Church of God in Bedford with Pastor Alan Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville. Friends may call at the First Church of God from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, September 8th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday, September 9th at The First Church of God. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
